It is FRIDAY, and I am doubly excited! Yes, a new episode of Good Friday Sister has dropped (and FYI, it’s the last episode in this first series, and hands down, my favorite!), but also, I have some great news! Well, I think it is great, and I pray you do, too.
If you’ve been a part of this flock from the beginning, you may recall that I gave fair warning about what could and probably would happen in this space. From a post written on January 2, 2026, introducing my weekly newsletter, Hatching Ideas:
As chosen vessels of service, our mission is to equip others for their purpose, so that they, too, can be of service, so that together, we build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). As excellent a plan this may be, every good plan of the heart requires a plan of action, meaning…structure, format, written down and held accountable. So, here is what you can expect from Words & Birds in 2026, and I pray you are as excited about it as I am:
Constant change. Because when you yield to the will of God, you have no control. He is in control. And so my guess is that this is going to be a wild ride for all of us. However, the change will not be a lack of format, consistency, or laziness on my part. I am just giving a fair warning that the way the Lord and I work together can be impulsive, and so what He asks of me today could change tomorrow. It is His way of keeping me looking up and staying sober. But also, a lesson in patience, to sit with His word longer before I hit publish. It will be a work in progress because I am not used to waiting for the green light. I usually run the yellow.
Well, as you may have caught on, I have kept my word regarding constant change. Because after posting my twentieth weekly Hatching Ideas newsletter, we shifted gears, and embraced more change, moving to a monthly newsletter: The Gathering.
This new newsletter drops on the last Friday of every month. And it has lasted three months. Yup. Only three. It’s over, folks. But three is a biblical number, so let’s go with that as a prophetic sign, okay?
With today being the last Friday of September, I figured it is the appropriate day to announce yet, another change here at Words & Birds. With the launch of the Good Friday Sister podcast, and the surrounding plans the Lord and I have been dreaming up, I have decided to change the name of my Substack from Words & Birds to Good Friday Sister.
(Yes. It is okay. Let’s all take a moment of silence, bow our heads, and give thanks for the chickens.)
My intention with this name change is to create clarity and cohesiveness, while providing a safe space for us to continue the podcast episodes, giving us a real feel and sense of sisterhood. Also, I won’t look so schizophrenic in the internet space.
So, in addition to receiving posts from Good Friday Sister in your inbox, here is what you can expect:
For all subscribers:
Words & Birds will become Good Friday Sister.
The once-a-month Friday Newsletter will now become a weekly Monday Newsletter
One to two reflections (maybe more) that correspond to the Friday episode theme that week
For PAID subscribers:
Everything all subscribers receive, plus…
Weekly Coops Chat videos (the name of my Substack is changing, but the chickens in my life are not!)
EXTRA content in the weekly Monday newsletter (the personal stuff is behind a paywall because it is…well…personal.)
Monthly BONUS podcast episode! (This is worth upgrading your subscription!)
Online BOOK STUDY
For FOUNDING MEMBERS:
Everything above plus…
Extra monthly articles/videos when the Spirit moves me
Insider peeks at my life: podcast recording, book writing, Substack happenings
All in all, consider this change an upgrade. And as always, stay tuned…there are some AMAZING things stirring for this new “Apodstolate” that I am confident you will love! (Are you subscribed to my website? You should be.) And as always, thank you, thank you! Your support, prayers, comments, encouragement, and vulnerable sharing are what make Good Friday Sister possible. I am so grateful, you are in my prayers and…GOD BE PRAISED!
Before I sign off, in honor of my “keeping it real,” let’s chat about the spiritual battle I have been in, the non-stop warfare, and the terrible attitude I have had for the past few weeks…and what happened to me this morning:
